Ride the Bus is an interesting and fast paced drinking card game. This game is generally played in different rounds. The rounds may vary depending on which variation of the game you are playing. As with many drinking games, it can take some time to learn the rules and how to play, but once you get the hang of it, you will have an awesome time and get super drunk.
***below-paragraph-1.shtml***A deck of cards, alcohol, and 3-7 players.
The game can be set up in two ways, either a diamond pattern with 9 cards (rows of 1, 2, 3, 2, 1) or a pyramid shape with 10 cards (rows of 1, 2, 3, 4). Cards are laid face down in the chosen pattern and each player gets five cards. The rest of the cards are laid in a pile and set to the side for the second round of the game.
To begin the game the dealer turns up a card in the first row of the diamond or pyramid. If players have a card with the same value then they can play as many as they have in their hand. If a player can play a card then they get to pass out drinks to other players for each matching card they have. Once all cards are flipped the round is over.
To continue, everyone must count the cards left in their hands. If all the players have less than four cards then this round is over, round one is set up and played again. If any player(s) has four or more cards then they go to the next round and someone must Ride The Bus.
If there is more than one player who has four or more cards then whoever has the most cards plays round two. If two players have the same amount of cards they draw a card from the pile until one has a higher card than the other and this person plays round two. Round two is where the player with the most cards will ride the bus.
All cards are gathered and shuffled into a deck separate from the pile that was left over from the first round. The remaining pile is laid out as they were in the first round in a diamond or pyramid shape. If needed, the gathered cards can be used to finish the layout.
The player of this round will ride the bus by drawing cards from each row and taking drinks according to the cards they overturn. All numbered cards 2-10 are safe, but all other cards are ranked as follows: jacks being one drink, queens being two drinks, kings being three drinks and aces being four drinks. The player must drink for any ranked cards chosen. They keep riding the bus until all the cards are gone. The cards that were drawn are then replaced using the shuffled deck and the game begins again at round one.
The second round may be played differently. The cards are laid in a row with the player having to play each card and take drinks for the face value of the cards. Some variations may add cards for ranked cards. For example, if a player turns over a jack they must take one drink and get one additional card added to the row. For queens it would be two drinks and two added cards, and so on.
The bus may also be laid out in two rows. The dealer flips a card in one row and the player must guess if the card in the other row is higher or lower. If they are correct they move on. If they are wrong then they drink for every card they have guessed so far and the cards are re-dealt into the two rows to start again until the player gets through the whole row with all correct guesses.
