The Pyramid game is kind of a mix of the traditional Pyramid card game and a bluffing game. Players have to be skilled at getting others to believe them even when they are lying. A good liar can make it far in this game and end up getting everyone else stinking drunk in the process. This game can also make for some interesting arguments and finger pointing since the whole idea is to lie to your friends while you play.
***below-paragraph-1.shtml***Pyramid requires a deck of cards and some drinks. The cards are laid in a pyramid structure starting with six cards at the bottom. Lay the six cards face down and then lay five cards above those, four cards, three cards, two cards and end with one card on top laid face up. The number of cards in each row corresponds to the number of drinks a player must take when playing cards on that row. The rest of the cards are dealt equally to the players (technically you're supposed to deal just 4 cards to each player, but it's funner to just deal out all the rest of the cards out to everyone equally).
The Pyramid game play begins with each player saying in turn whether they have a card that matches the face up card from the pyramid. If a player has that card, they can choose another player that must drink. If that other player believes they don't have the card then they can ask to see it. If the player lied and doesn't have the card to show then they must drink. However, if they do have it then the other player must drink double the amount of drinks for doubting. After all the players have gone the card on the pyramid is discarded and the next card is flipped over for a new round.
You can set up the Pyramid game with a large pyramid and even use multiple decks if you have a lot of players. You should always have at least four cards left over for each player. The rest can be used to make the pyramid.
In some games players are only allowed to look at their own cards once when the game begins. This makes the game more challenging since people may forget what cards they actually have in their hand and end up losing challenges due to not really having the card.
In some games, part of the deck is kept so that once players reveal their cards during a challenge they can discard it and get a new card. For example, if the card on the pyramid is an ace and you say you have one, but another player challenges you then you have to show you do have an ace. You can then discard the ace and choose a fresh card from the deck.
Part of the challenge of this game is trying to remember the cards that have been played and the challenges that have been made. The person that has an excellent memory even when intoxicated will do the best at this game. When multiple decks are used the game is made even harder just due to the fact that there are more cards in play and more to remember.
