What is more fun than sitting around and having a beer with some friends? That would be to get those friends to play some drinking games with you! With so many to choose from, how can you pick just one? The answer is to play them all, but don't forget to give "Flip Cup" a try!
Flip Cup is a game to play as a team. You can play with as many people as you want, as long as each team has 2 or more people. Of course you can practice solo or play heads up; however, the more people you have the more fun you will have. The set-up is super easy and the game is easy to understand. I could teach my beer loving dog to play. (Hmm, that would be an amazing trick.)
***below-paragraph-1.shtml***The best cups to use for Flip Cup would be the generic red/blue plastic cups that you can find at any grocery store. They are mostly sturdy, good for flipping, and will not break if they accidentally fall on the floor. Buy different colored cups if they have it, so each team will have their own color cups. You will also need a big table, the longer the better… so each team can fit more players to a side.
Two teams with an equal number of players line up along the table facing each other. Everyone gets their cups filled with a predetermined amount of beer (you decide how much, depending on how fast everyone wants to get drunk). Then the 2 teams race to finish their beers and flip their cups over before the other team does.
The first person in line on each team will chug their beer first. When they have finished their beer, they place the cup at the edge of the table, and with a single hand, they attempt to flip the cup over. The cup must be flipped over and land upside-down onto the drinking rim of the cup. If you fail at your attempt, reset the cup on the edge of the table and try again.
As soon as one member of the team has successfully chugged their beer and flipped their cup, it goes to the next person in line on that team. The following person may only begin drinking their beer AFTER the cup of the proceeding person has been flipped successfully. The game continues down the line until everyone has been triumphant in chugging and flipping their cup. The first team who has had everyone chug their beer and flip their cup is the winner.
While it may seem as crazy as seeing a "Rock, Paper, Scissors" tournament on ESPN, there have been "Flip Cup" tournaments as well. You can actually start a LEAGUE in your area and even have team jerseys made here. How far are you willing to take your flip cup obsession? I think I will go practice my cup flipping skills, and I am going to work on teaching my dog how to play.
As always, remember that it is not a good idea to drink and drive. Make sure everyone has a safe way to get home, or a piece of floor to pass out on. Have fun playing and be safe!
