So you wanna play a drinking game, but got no dice, cards, quarters, or any ping pong balls? It's all good. "21" needs none of the above... so it's THE game for you! It's a college party 'word game'... no extras necessary.
***below-paragraph-1.shtml***The point of the game is to go in sequence, calling out "1" to "21". The game begins when the person elected to start says, "1 to my left" (or right). Then the next individual in the chosen direction says "2", then the next says "3", and so on, until you reach 21. Simple so far, right?
Here's the kicker! Each player has the option of saying more than one number in the sequence, and depending on how many numbers they call out, it changes the pace like thus...
So for example, if a person starts the game with "1", and the next person says "2,3", then it's right back on the person who started the game. Then it continues in that opposite direction until it's reversed again.
The individual who's forced to say "21" at the end of each round has to finish their drink.
If you say a number out of turn or out of sequence, you have to drink. (Then you restart the game again with "1 to my left/right".)
If you take too long to respond (more than 3 seconds) or mess up, then you also have to drink.
(optional) If someone calls out a sequence of numbers that add up to exactly 21, then they have to drink. For example, if someone says "10,11" or "6,7,8".
Here's one basic tip to always rememeber... never stop on "18"! Because the next person can just say "19,20" and it'll be right back on you, then you'll be stuck on "21" and you'll have to chug the rest of your drink.
This is a game you have to pay attention to if you don't wanna get totally wasted within the hour! But then again, that's also the fun of the game... because the more you drink, the harder it gets to concentrate.
If you're the starter, you can mess up the other players right off the bat by starting with multiple numbers. If you say "1,2, to my right", then the person to your LEFT has to say "3". But they never catch that the first time.
Especially, if you look at the person to your RIGHT instead (as if it was their turn). This will most likely screw up both people on both sides of you, and they both have to drink!
After you play a few rounds and you think you got the game down, you can start implementing the other basic rule to this game... which is, the person who ends the game with 21 can implement a new rule before they start the next round. Or if they wish, they can also negate a previous rule instead.
Popular rules to implement:
Another fun variation of this game (once you know how to play), is to use roman numerals in place of numbers. i.e. - I, V, and X values for all the numbers 1-21.
This is a little bit more difficult, and takes more concentration, but it gets funny as hell when you start replacing the roman numeral values with phrases. Like "I" being "No!", "V" being "Daddy!", and "X" being "Don't touch me there!" So when you have to say 17 (XVII), it's "Don't touch me there, daddy! No! Noooooo!"
This variation of 21 is generally louder, because you have to yell the phrases. Which is fine, 'cause it's funnier, but just be wary of the neighbors calling child services or something.
