Drinking games can add some fun to a night of partying. They challenge you while your brain is under the influence of alcohol and they really can turn a dull party into a great time. One fun game that everyone should know if they are going to throw a party is Bullshit. You can already tell from the name that this game will be a fun one.

What You Need

To play bullshit all you need is a deck of cards and some friends. You also need some type of alcohol. Beer works great for this game.

Basic Rules

Bullshit starts out like any other typical card game. Everyone sits around the table. Deal out all the cards evenly to each player. If you have some left over that can't be dealt out evenly then just set them aside. It isn't really that important to make sure every card is dealt. The most important thing is everyone has the same number of cards.

The game starts by going around the table and each person in turn must lay down all the aces they have in their hand facedown on the table. Even if you don't have an ace you can lie and say you do. The whole idea of the game is to get rid of all the cards in your hand. You do this through lying, cheating, whatever it takes. Watch your back, though, because anyone can call you out by saying "bullshit". When someone calls "bullshit" on you then you have to prove you are not lying.

If someone calls "bullshit" and you are lying then you have to take as many drinks as there are cards in the pile. This means if everyone before you has laid down cards and there are 10 cards in the deck then you take 10 drinks. If someone calls "bullshit" and the person they called it on was not lying then the person who called "bullshit" has to drink.

The game starts with discarding aces and keeps going through the numbers and through the court cards until someone discards all their cards.

Game Variations

Bullshit may also be played under other names. It may be called BS, Bologna or Doubt, among other things. There are many different variations of the game that can be played.

In some games players keep playing until only one person is left with cards and they are the loser. Some games allow players to pass if they don't have the right card to lay or if they just don't want to lay any cards at the time.

Some games are played straight through with players just laying however many of the cards they have of a certain number. In some games the rules will be a bit more difficult and players be asked to lay 3 kings or 2 threes. Many games allow jokers to be used as wild cards.

In some variations in addition to having to drink if you wrongly call bullshit on another player you also have to pick up all the cards in the pile.

No matter what version of bullshit you play it is not easy to play it once everyone has had a few drinks. Judgment is impaired, people start thinking everyone is lying and some people may really have no clue what cards they are laying down.
