As mentioned, you are going to need a lot of alcohol to play Around The World. You also need some good friends and a deck of cards. Make sure the jokers are removed from the pack.
Game Set Up and Rules
The set up of the game involves placing one card face down in the middle of the table. Around that card you will lay the rest of the cards in the deck to make a circle. Keep making circles around until all the cards are gone. You should end up with about 4 or 5 rows total.
Players will sit around the table. The dealer chooses the first person to play. This person will turn over a card in the outer most circle. The number or face value of the card represents the number of drinks that person must take. All cards are the value of their number. Court cards are worth 10 and Aces are worth 15. The next person goes until everyone around the table has gone. Keep going around the table until all the cards have been turned over.
Each row increases the face value of the cards. The outer most row is face value. The next row is double, then triple for the 3rd row and so on for each row. Since this is a chance based game and really doesn't rely on skill, anyone can play and most people are going to get really drunk by the end.
Variations
To make the game more fun and little trickier a variation is to have people guess the color of the card or if it is a court card. If they guess right then they don't have to drink, but if they guess wrong then they drink. This is often a variation used when alcohol may be a little limited since it will not involve people drinking for every single card.
Another variation is to guess if the card to be turned over will be higher or lower than the last card turned over. Players may also guess which suit the card will be. In some games each round has different rules and players must guess or predict different things for each round.
Yet another variation has players giving drinks to other players. This can be in combination with having to predict the color, suit or value of the card. If they are right in their prediction then they can choose someone else to take their drinks.
There are numerous variations to around the world. It can be played in so many different ways that you may play a different variation every time you play the game. No matter how it is played this game always results in players being extremely intoxicated and having a blast.
